I confirm that I have read the above guild rules and that failure to conform to these may result in loss of raid spot
If there are occasional issues with attendance, please let us know here

None whatsoever.

Race and Class

Off Spec(s) (only include if viable for progression)

Protection - very rusty though

Alts (comfortable playing for progression)

None right now, although I'm very interested in bringing up my Warlock to speed quite quickly.

Class Knowledge

Please tell us your opening rotation (bullet-point form or similar is fine). If you play multiple specialisations then please do this for each one

Depending ultimate on the encounter. I often use Crusade so the rotation is pretty simple. Retribution however,, has always effectively been about priority of abilities, Judgement is pretty much a must before any Templar's Verdict is cast. Crusade needs to be stacked quickly. In the most ideal world I would do the following with a Bloodlust for even sexier DPS.

I would open like so:

- : Judgement (2 Holy Power)
- : Blade of Justice (4 Holy Power)
- : Crusade + Trinket
- : Templar's Verdict

My next aim is to stack Crusade stacks ASAP, more stacks, more damage.

- : Wake of Ashes (5 Holy Power)
- : Templar's Verdict
- : Hammer of Wrath (2 Holy Power)
- : Blade of Justice (4 Holy Power)
- : Judgement (5 Holy Power)
- : Templar's Verdict

By this point Crusade will be fully stacked so it's only important now to Judge + Templar's Verdict as often as possible. Judgement should be used whenever possible prior to any Templar's, more damage! Also things worth considering are using Arcane Torrent to get that extra 1 Holy Power, this is good perhaps when moving between targets. Also azerite talents like Empyrean Power is very useful for bonus cleave + filler. There isn't often a time anymore as a ret where you are idle.

Thankfully WeakAuras have made tools to make management of these abilities painfully simply.

Please tell us your general rotation or priority system (bullet-point form or similar is fine). If you play multiple specialisations then please do this for each one

Outside of the major cooldowns the rotation remains the same. Stack that Holy Power, get a Judgement out, smash the target with Templar's.

Please list your current stat priority (screenshots of your character profile on SimCraft/RaidBots will also suffice), and then explain the benefits of each stat for your specialisation, making sure to include any softcaps or breakpoints you are aiming for

There are no caps or breakpoints for Retribution.

1: Strength;
2: Haste;
3: Critical Strike - Versatility - Mastery.

Weights come in as the following:

1: Strength [7.51]
2: Haste [6.01]
3: Crit [4.51] = Mastery [4.51] = Versatility [4.51]

Fairly simple nowadays, no more hit or expertise caps to shoot for so it's all pretty much Haste or bust. As Haste lowers the GCD, the cooldown of the Holy Power spenders and makes you attack faster, what's not to like?

Of the three other stats I would always feel prefrably to Mastery simply for the Holy Damage increase on Judgement, Hammer and Templar's.

Critical strike is always nice, simply cause big numbers are better than small ones.

Versatility is also decent purely for the base damage increase/decrease. I have found myself with quite a lot of Versatility gear currently - this is simply because I am taking what I can get right now as my gear is wildly mediocre.

Please list your current talent setup, without abbreviations, detailing for each row whether the choice changes for Single Target, Cleave, and AoE

15: Righteous Verdict, obviously this hugely desirable for damage increase.

I do see some Rets using Zeal but it seems like a lesser choice.

Executioners Sentance seems to have been commended to PVP, and even then I think after it's last nerf it's not so popular.

30: Hammer of Wrath seems to be the only choice here - it's an execute, which can be used during Crusade + it just always, always sims better than the other two.

Blade of Wrath is dependant on Art of War procs which is always a risk, again, have seen some Rets play with it but I can't see the value. The same can be said for Fires of Justice - it's a RNG talent.

I would say there isn't a 'wrong' choice here but Hammer of Wrath is the only guaranteed damage increase from the above. However, the other two do have potential.

45: Fist of Justice, CC isn't often required from a Ret Paladin. I mainly keep Fist purely for M+, being able to shut down tricky mobs frequently for 6 seconds is always good.

Repentance is very nice, if you want to remove something from a fight entirely and Blinding Light is more or less to create some breathing space if required.

60: Wake of Ashes 99% of the time, instant 5 Holy Power, short cooldown.

Consecration is actually good too if it's an add heavy fight where the adds wont be moving at all, although that's a rarity. You just wouldn't use Divine Judgement, you'll never get it to stack that high without a net DPS loss.

75: Cavalier is nice. Ret has shit movement, having an extra horse on demand is often good when needing to make up ground fast.

Eye for an Eye can also be good too for when you know there will be intense Physical Damage. I.e. Grong's Tantrum. Unbreakable Spirit is for weird people.

90: Word of Glory or Selfless Healer, both are excellent quick on the spot heals for decent amounts, Selfless Healer is probably better due to not losing Holy Power but Word of Glory can get some tasty critical's, although that got nerfed too.

Justicars Vengeance is probably the most underated move of the game! If it's an encounter where the main target is sometimes stunned, you can absolute clump it silly with this, even more so if it lines up with cooldowns!

100: This is a very situational tier. I'm very partial to Crusade namely for the insane burst opportunity. I have a Lights Decree azerite talent, this pretty much makes this an essential pick.

Inquisition is also very good but requires another cooldown to manage + spend Holy Power on. Probably wouldn't use now I have Lights Decree.

Divine Purpose is another RNG situation where if the gods smile on you, you are pushing insane DPS just because it chain procs, although sometimes it seldom procs, it's a high risk high reward talent. I would probably use this talent in the event that I know it will be a very AoE heavy fight - more divine storms the merrier!

An important note: failure to play optimal specialisations may result in loss of raid spot/being sat. Please confirm you have acknowledged this

Raid Related Info

What is your opinion on sitting during progression (potentially for multiple bosses)?

The need of the raid comes first, not every class is good for every encounter, although I know some classes are always required. As a melee I'm quite used to knowing that many fights are NOT Melee friendly and often go better when there is as few as possible. Plus if you are playing poorly, I wouldn't expect an invite if I constantly made errors on a boss. We all have bad nights right?

That being said, Retribution actually has some pretty decent utility, particularly for this tier. Hand of Freedom is endlessly useful on Jaina, Bubble to get out of any massive incoming damage and of course BoP that could just save someone from something. Also Lay on Hands is always a nice cooldown and little things like being able to dispel and slow targets + increased damage when someone inevitably stands in the fire and dies. You guys should have more Rets!

What is your opinion on Private vs Public logging?

None, so long as the relevant people can actually see and improve their performance from them. Obviously private logs wont get you into a guild!

Background information

Please list your previous guilds and a brief reason for leaving each of them (current expansion)

It's certainly worth noting but at this point I haven't seriously raided since late MoP, I've played on and off since then and been in 1 or 2 guilds but they were almost always casual guilds where I did no serious raiding.

In Catacylsm I was in a top 25 guild called Solidarity - I managed to secure some very high ranks + very good progression - see my achievements. I will link the old logs later on in the application.

I'm currently in a real life friends guild called Apostles and whilst they are all really nice, friendly people - it's too laid back. The guild prides itself on this and that's fine but I really want to have something more serious now. I stop started played this game since MoP (for various reasons, was a student, travelled etc) and I'm really, really keen to get back seriously into it now. It frustrates me knowing there is a lot of content I'm not seeing, I'm paying for this game so I want to see all of it - that's fair right?

Why have you chosen to apply to Weeping Angels?

You have a guild named after something from Doctor Who, this is genuinely what caught my eye and pushed me to ask about if you would need a Ret!

In all seriousness though, you seem like a dedicated bunch, you have a workable raid schedule which would allow for me to have some time to do other things in life but also let me see the best of the game, what more could a serious raider want? I want a guild that actually plays for fun but seriously. I don't want this game to feel like a job though, you really have to strike the balance right.

Also you have a long and good history of progression - what's not to like? I'm not going to lie and say I've known about you for years. I didn't even know who you were until a few hours a go but you do seem legitimate and serious raiders so sign me up!

I want also add on record that I know my current logs/gear are pretty mediocre, I actively acknowledge and accept this - I'm very recently seriously back into the game after a very long hiatus. However, as I mentioend earlier in my application I used to be in a top 25 guild under the name of Jimmy (playing as Ret)

So in the spirit of that, I actually dug up some very old logs from the Cataclysm days, below are a few - Scroll around the months here, you'll find me in multiple reports. - This is an example that I really did used to make serious amounts of damage whilst not taking any - the perfect damage dealer right/

I link these because I know my current experience + logs are below par, but I really do want to show I can absolutely be the player I once was. You play with good people, you play good, you play with shit people, you play badly - it's the same in any game. Surround yourself with good people and the rest is very easy.

Just give me a proper chance to prove my worth and it'll be worthwhile for both parties.

Oh I forgot to add finally that yes my long absence from the game is probably cause for concern but I would like add the assurance that this isn't due to myself, lets face it.. if most people didn't raid seriously they'd probably quit too right? If you don't enjoy M+ or PVP, you're going to get bored fast!

If I am accepted I give you my word of my full commitment and dedication for the foreseeable future.
Hey Pang,

Thanks for applying to Weeping Angels.

Sadly, we really do not have any space in our melee team at the moment and as such, we will unfortunately be declining this application.

Good luck with your guild hunt!
