The opener varies alot depending on if I will need cooldowns and how much damage I will be taking in the first few seconds of the fight but I'll list the opener for the dream scenario dps-wise :
1 or 2 seconds before pull I use a potion of the old war and follow it up with a sigil of flame, on pull I use infernal strike, fiery brand and soul carver almost simultaneously (although I make sure that fiery brand hits first for the increased fire damage), follow up with arcane torrent + fel eruption and another infernal strike, then I use immolation aura, after this I'll use up all my demon spike stacks and start spamming shear into soul cleave at 60> pain whilst keeping at least one demon spikes stack rolling at all times.
It's worth mentioning that if my legendary trinket doesn't blow before fiery brand is over I will use a cancelaura macro to get 30% more damage on the proc (60% with current relics).
Please explain your rotation, if any
Ill execute my opener whenever available (although all of them wont line up, Ill use trinket and soul carver on cooldown because theyre not worth saving until fiery brand even with relics).
Fel Eruption (on cd to make sure every other lines up with fiery brand) > Infernal Strike once in between every Fiery Brand to make sure you have 2 stacks for every Fiery Brand for more burst damage > Demon Spikes with 2 stacks > Soul Cleave at 90+ pain > Demon Spikes on cd > Soul Cleave on 60+ pain > Shear
I tend to not use sigil of flame unless theres more than one target due to the current 4 set, I feel that it is rarely worth weaving in when you could instead build your demon spikes uptime.
Please explain your current stat priority, this includes gems, enchants & set bonusses you are currently going for
I aim for around 20% haste (this amount can vary alot depending on how much damage you're taking, krosus is a perfect example of where you dont need alot of haste because the debuff is constantly granting you alot of pain), haste it good because it allows you to keep 100% uptime on demon spikes.
After that I tend to go for versatility over mastery, since I have 4 set you might think mastery would outscale versatility by alot which may very well be true, but physical damage is hardly what vengeance dh's struggle with whilst magic damage can actually be quite troublesome, that is why I go for versatility instead, since it provides damage reduction for magic damage aswell and the healing bonus can be quite useful aswell (although not really an argument vs mastery since it provides attack power which translates into more healing aswell).
I avoid crit like the plague cause all it provides defensively is an irrelevant amount of avoidance and occasional crit heals on soul cleave / leech.
Please explain your current talents and glyphs, explain why you are using them, when if and why you change your talents for any current encounter:
Tier 1 talent : I almost always go for razor spikes here since it has such nice synergy with the t19 4 set, the legendary ring (15% leech while demon spikes is up) and feed the demon.
However for fights like skorpyron where I might need to constantly pick up adds I sometimes go for abyssal strike.
Tier 2 talent : I usually go for burning alive in this tier even on single target since it provides a small dps increase which has very nice synergy with the current bis relics (10% extra fire damage while fiery brand is up which equals 60% extra fire damage with 3 relics), it's also really nice when it can spread and reduce your damage intake from multiple targets.
Tier 3 talent : On single target fights I go for Fel Eruption which has really great synergy with fiery brand and current bis relics for huge burst damage.
On AoE fights I go for flame crash instead, especially when I have to pick abyssal strike.
Tier 4 talent : After getting 4 set I very rarely see a reason to go for anything other than feed the demon since it allows you to maintain 100% uptime on demon spikes.
I guess the exception would be if you were in a situation where you constantly took huge damage (again, like krosus) if you can still maintain demon spikes whilst using fracture on every gcd and still having too much pain spend, allowing you to soul cleave occasionally to avoid hitting 100 pain, although im not actually sure if this is possible and it would gimp your healing a bit.
Tier 5 talent : This tier is often mostly just a quality of life pick, except for when sigil of chains actually benefits the raid greatly like on il'gynoth.
I usually tend to go for quickened sigils because it makes interrupting with the sigils way easier, it also doesn't cripple me like concentrated sigils would (makes the sigils spawn under you no matter where you aim it), although concentrated sigils could potentially be a bigger dps gain through a fight I prefer quickened sigils because it allows me to use it pre-pull, therefore not wasting a GCD during the actual fight (and as mentioned earlier I do think it's a waste of a GCD using sigil of flame with the current 4 set bonus).
Tier 6 talent : The obvious choice here is almost always blade turning due to current 4 set bonus, it allows you to generate a huge amount of extra pain throughout the fights, the synergy is just great because demon spikes grants you parry, parry grants your next shear extra pain regen allowing you to use more soul cleaves which refreshes your demon spike stacks.
Fel Devastation is potentially better in cleave situations (again fire damage, so nice synergy with current bis relics) and also on star augur since theres nothing to parry until the adds in the third phase, I never go for this on single target though because it makes your burst windows very awkward when you're not currently tanking (since taking damage grants you pain), it also works awfully with potion of the old war since it takes up more than one global, effectively reducing your amount of old war procs.
Tier 7 talent : Here's another tier greatly affected by the current 4 set bonus, there's almost never any reason to go for anything but last resort here (unless you're missing 4 set), demonic infusion could potentially be useful if your haste is really low and you're not really taking alot of damage but having a cheat death is almost always better for progression, not to mention the fact that it puts you in meta for 15 seconds, granting you more health, pain regen, shear damage and guaranteed soul fragments.
Soul barrier is somewhat unreliable unless you're using fracture which you dont really do with current 4 set, but it could be decent if you need a small defensive often.
Raid experience (Current and previous)
Basicly started raiding "seriously" as a fury warrior in dragon soul I guess, cleared 4/8 HC pre-nerf and 6/8 HC post-nerf, nothing really special, worth noting that it was on a very dead server (chromaggus).
I then continued to raid as a fury warrior quite casually in MoP, cleared MSV normal, first boss HC, a couple of bosses in HoF normal and a couple in ToES, really dont remember this very well honestly, it's nothing impressive at all.
In ToT I cleared normal as a fury warrior and rerolled monk, switched servers to twisting nether and cleared 8/13 HC pre-nerf as brewmaster.
Cleared 11/14HC (current mythic, aka pre-nerf), quit for a while and came back to clear the rest post-nerf whilst playing a mix of windwalker and brewmaster.
I WoD I played mainly brewmaster and windwalker aswell, I cleared highmaul on heroic and first boss on mythic, never really got further than that and then I quit for quite a while, came back in hfc and joined some altruns with some old friends, one of these altruns being my first introduction to this guild through dragon/bloddin/simon/whatever you wanna call him, in which I cleared 11/13M pre-nerf, then proceeded to break my arm to the point where I couldn't play, missed cutting edge and came back to join you guys for a final altrun and steal the mount.
In legion I decided to reroll vengeance demon hunter because I knew I would miss the selfhealing from brewmaster in t18, I really prefer selfhealing tanks since it makes you less reliant on your healers (although obviously less effective in raids in comparison to a tank that would just reduce the damage), anyway...
I cleared 7/7M EN and my current guild got rank 520~ something on xavius, I then proceeded to clear 2/3M ToV and 3/10M NH.
I honestly dont think there's alot worth mentioning here, through the years I've often joined in on a guild with a few friends called confused, never really bothered to join a serious guild in between disbands but im sick of falling behind every expansion because my friends can't commit for long enough to get anywhere, so that leaves me here after the inevitable disband of "Confused v12345.6".
You'll be happy to know that I rarely leave guilds unless they're actually disbanding so I guess you could consider that some sort of loyalty.
Reason behind applying for Weeping Angels
Brian and dragon have been trying to poach me forever and my current guild is disbanding, so here I am.
